World Radiography Day

Grade 6 students of National Public School, ITPL, commemorated World Radiography Day with a special assembly on November 8, 2024, honoring the anniversary of Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen’s discovery of X-rays on November 8, 1895

The students presented an enlightening thought followed by insights into the historical and scientific relevance of the day, marking the momentous breakthrough that paved the way for the development of radiography, revolutionizing diagnostic medicine and ultimately improving healthcare outcomes for millions of people worldwide. A play titled ‘The Accidental Discovery’, depicting the events leading to the invention of X-rays and emphasizing their modern applications in the medical field was showcased by the students. Thereafter, a Hindi poem was recited, narrating the story of Roentgen’s unexpected discovery. The assembly concluded with an interactive quiz involving the inquisitive and curious learners. The day truly celebrated the importance of scientific innovations and their impactful contributions to the world.

As the students reflected on the contributions of Roentgen and the radiography community, his words, “I did not think I was making a discovery; I thought I was only seeing what others had seen before,” reminded them of the power of curiosity, humility, and persistence in driving innovation.
