Reading Program
The interactive blending sounds class focuses on developing phonemic awareness and fine motor skills essential for early literacy.
At the outset, students begin with a review of basic sight words and practice blending CVC words using a multisensory method. With a tap on their shoulder, elbow, and wrist, they learned to represent each sound, reinforcing phonemic awareness through physical segmentation and blending.
Further they circle the corresponding sounds as instructed by the teacher, while flashcards are displayed on the board to support visual learners.
This multi-sensory approach engages various learning modalities, particularly kinesthetic learning, and promotes peer collaboration. Overall, these blending sound exercises foster confidence and lay a strong foundation for future reading and vocabulary growth.
