EBL

At the onset of the unit  Light, Sound and Force for grade 4 , teachers created an interactive learning environment by setting up equipment and resources in different corners of the Junior Learning Lab.

The objects or interaction  were the ones that produce sound, materials that allow light to pass, and need force to function.

Students explored these learning stations, conducting simple experiments, making observations, and discussing their findings.

Through carefully crafted, and also impromptu  thought-provoking questions by the teachers and their peers, the students were encouraged to analyze and respond, fostering curiosity and engagement from the outset.

While they were at it, there were a few of the learners, who were introduced to new terms too like ‘opaque’ , and ‘prism’

This method of active exploration and inquiry-based learning evoked active learning and the students developing critical thinking, deepening their basic understanding of scientific principles through real-world applications.

The building of knowledge here was based on a constructivist approach, where students actively constructed understanding through hands-on experiences, inquiry, and reflection.
