Indian News Paper Day
January 29 is celebrated every year in India as Indian Newspaper Day, commemorating the launching of the first newspaper, Hicky’s Bengal Gazette, in 1780. At NPS-ITPL, the students of Grades I and II celebrated this event throughout the week during their activity periods.
The celebration started with an interesting session where the teacher explained the importance of the day, its history, and its relevance. Students learned about the importance of newspapers in daily life and their role in spreading knowledge and awareness.
At Grade I, students had an enriching session reading newspapers and solving puzzles. This activity not only introduced the student to all the parts of a newspaper but also was aimed at perfecting their reading skills. The eager learners looked forward to going through variety of newspaper articles , making it an interesting learning experience and a fun and enjoyable learning exercise.
Our grade II students creatively designed collages of their class news. They wrote reports about their peers, class events and moments that encaptured the activities, giving unique titles to their collages. With this hands-on activity, students were encouraged to become journalists and artists as they gathered and present information with beaming creativity.
We believe that the beauty of such activities make students develop a wider appreciation towards elements that make us a society.
