THEATRICAL EVENT "ANIMAL FARM - THE MUSICAL"

National Public School, ITPL presented its theatrical event of the year on November 30, 2024 – ‘Animal Farm: The Musical’

George Orwell’s timeless masterpiece, Animal Farm, was written in 1945 as a powerful allegory of the Russian Revolution and the rise of Stalinism. The students of Grades 9 and 11 gathered to celebrate the art of dance and drama, where theatre fostered teamwork, communication, empathy, confidence, emotional intelligence, and self-awareness. The performance by the students was fabulous and our adaptation brought this classic to life through the raw power of live theater.

Through music, movement, and theatrical innovation, our ensemble cast brought these anthropomorphized characters to vibrant life, while maintaining the sharp edge of Orwell’s political commentary of – “Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.” The play displayed how language can be used to manipulate people and how small differences can build up to become norms, and how these norms can lead to inequality.
