India Post is a Government operated postal system working under the Ministry of Communications. It was first established in 1766 under the British rule in India. Post India became independent in 1947, Postal services has started working under different variety of services. It adapted a motto called “Service before help” in 2008. As per the statistics available, there are close to 159,000 post offices across the country.
Citizens fondly remember in their age old days how they could pen a letter to their family or friends who stayed far and how they used to post them.
It can be reiterated that, Postal department stays as the country’s backbone of communication and has played a significant role in the country’s social and economic development. There could be places where the modern technology or the courier services may not reach. However a postman can deliver the mail or parcel.
Every Year the theme highlights the important aspect of postal services to encourage people. This year World Postal Day holds more significance as the theme is ‘we must raise awareness of the Post’s potential to tackle the climate crisis, and we must drive overall resources mobilization across sectors’.
To embark this occasion, the enthusiastic Std. III students of NPS, ITPL celebrated this day by sharing their views on its importance. They presented the beautiful drawings of post office and post box with great zeal and even gained knowledge about them.
